Privacy Policy for Grape

Grape is a personal wine cellar management app built for iOS. The app is developed and operated by Felix Grønlund Pedersen, based in Denmark.

Grape is intended for users aged 18 and over. Because Grape helps you manage a collection of alcoholic beverages, you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We ask for your date of birth at signup to confirm this and do not permit accounts for anyone under 18.

When you use Grape, we collect:

• Your email address, used to create and identify your account
• Your date of birth, used to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement
• Wine data you enter manually or via label scanning, including wine name, producer, region, vintage, bottle count, price, and photos of wine labels
• Tasting notes and consumption logs you create
• Collection membership information, including which collections you belong to and your role
• Your marketing preferences, if you choose to receive news and offers from us

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to your wine cellar.

When you tap Share on a wine, Grape creates a link to a page on grapeapp.dk. Anyone with the link can see the wine's profile: name, producer, vintage, wine type, region, country, grape varieties, the label photo, the descriptive texts, the drinking window, the tasting profile and an approximate price. The page does not show your own notes, your rating, location, number of bottles, gift information, your history, the name of your collection or who you are. The link does not expire and works until the wine is deleted in Grape. The page cannot be found through search or on grapeapp.dk, only through the link, but whoever you send the link to can forward it. The page uses no cookies and no tracking. The technical services that deliver the page and the image may, as part of operating them, record ordinary technical information such as IP address. If you want a link disabled, contact us using the contact details in this policy.

In notes and in the From whom field you can write the names of other people, for example the person who gave you a wine. This information is stored in your account and can be seen by the members of your collection. It is not included on pages you share with a link. Only write what you are allowed to and need to.

If you turn on the reminder when you mark a wine as a gift, Grape schedules a local notification on your phone. It is created and shown on the phone itself. The name of the gift giver is not sent to any notification service.

Your data is used to provide the Grape service — storing your wine collection, generating AI-powered pairing suggestions and wine descriptions, sharing your cellar with collection members you invite, and, if you have opted in, sending you occasional news about the app.

We may analyse wine and pairing data in aggregated, anonymised form to understand how the app is used and to improve features (for example, common pairings). This analysis does not identify you.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Grape uses Google Gemini to generate wine descriptions, pairing suggestions, and label analysis. Wine data (name, producer, region, grape variety, vintage) and photos of wine labels you scan are sent to Google's servers to generate these results. No personally identifying information is sent to Google — label photos contain product information about the wine, not personal data about you. We use Resend, an email delivery provider, to send account-related emails such as confirmation codes and password resets, and — if you have opted in — occasional marketing emails. Resend processes your email address solely to deliver these messages on our behalf.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and verify purchases made through the App Store. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier and subscription status on our behalf. It does not receive your email address, your wine data, or your payment details — payment is handled entirely by Apple. RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

We use PostHog to understand how the app is used and to improve it. PostHog records which screens and features are used, together with a pseudonymous identifier. Analytics data is stored on PostHog's servers in the European Union. PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy

We use Sentry to record crashes and performance problems so we can fix them. Crash reports may include technical details about your device and the state of the app when it failed. Sentry data is stored in the European Union. Sentry's privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/

We only send marketing emails (news about new features, wine collaborations, and other Grape news) if you have explicitly opted in, either at signup or in the app's settings. You can withdraw your consent at any time from Settings, or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Withdrawing consent does not affect account-related emails, which are necessary to operate the service.

Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in the European Union (eu-west-1). Data is protected by row-level security — you can only access data from collections you are a member of.

Your wine data is shared with other members of collections you belong to or create. Beyond the providers described above, we do not share your data with third parties. Each of them acts as a processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.

As a user based in or interacting with services from the EU, you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. You can export your wine and logbook data at any time from within the app, and you can delete your account and all associated personal data directly from within the app under Settings. Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data — including your wine label photos — is deleted immediately from our active systems. Residual copies held in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days. Wine and collection data shared with other members is preserved for those members.

Grape is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
